Note:
The Feminist Institute was founded in 1980 in Berkeley, offered courses and public presentations from 1981 to 1985, and had
a mailing list of ca. 400 names. Early press releases used the name, "the Berkeley Feminist Institute." The organization also
included a study group on women and work, which outlived the Institute, and which continues to the present time. Many of the
women involved with the Feminist Institute had formal or informal connections with the university, and most were activists
in the women's movement in the 1970s in the Berkeley/San Francisco Bay Area.
