Includes snapshot photographs and sketchbooks ("black books") documenting the graffiti works of various artists and crews
from the East Bay and elsewhere. Photographs depict graffiti in both public and private locations (e.g. walls, freight train
cars, domestic interiors) in Oakland, Calif. and elsewhere in the East Bay (Berkeley, San Lorenzo, Hayward). Other locations
throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond include San Francisco, along BART tracks, Sacramento, Davis, Los Angeles,
Reno, Virginia City, and Oregon. A few photographs depict artists at work. Also includes snapshots depicting graffiti crew
parties, a rap concert, and other aspects of East Bay hip-hop culture. Numerous tags, many of which refer to the same crew
or artist, appear throughout the collection, including Beats 737, Ha Crew, 42 Posse, DSF Crew (Da Sugar French, Def Stress
Forever, DEF Styles Forever, Down South Folk, Da Smokin Federation), Dali Foundation (Dalicamp), Moral, 'Larm, Rakos, Emsoe,
Emsea, Perv, Wormer, Chief Rocka, Emkone, Emzom, Ekel, Easoe, Eiser, Pig Brain, Ekel, Dak, Freako and Mr. Beats, among others.
The only depicted artist identified by name is Cornelius Cameron (Jazone). Also includes a ms. letter to the Beats 737 crew
from an unidentified graffiti artist
