Eugene Richard Brown (1942-2012) came to Berkeley in the 1960s and earned his bachelor's in sociology and masters and doctoral
degrees in the sociology of education from the University of California. While at Berkeley he bacame heavily involved in city
and campus politics. Brown joined the faculty of the UCLA School of Public Health in 1979 and remained at UCLA until his death
in 2012 at the age of 70.
