Abstract:
Custom made scrapbook (58 p.) containing a collection of newspaper clippings, book reviews, poems, correspondence and typed
notes mostly related to the publication and promotion of a book on vegetable gardening in California written by Edward Du
Bois Flint titled, "The Garden Patch." Correspondence includes notes from Jack London on his Glen Elen, Sonoma letterhead
(August 3,1914), Luther Burbank on his personal letterhead (January 18, 1913), and numerous others. One page of the volume
has an original four line poem, penned, signed, and dated on the page itself by Edwin Markham in April, 1921, titled "The
Praise of Poverty", with an additional two line verse underneath it about Flint that is initialed by Markham. Also includes
some materials unrelated to the book including clippings of newspaper articles that Flint wrote on other topics.
