Copies of photographic prints on paper mounts that possibly formed an album. Each original was captioned in manuscript, in
Spanish, on the bottom edge of the mount. Views include group portraits of expedition members and views taken in South America,
Central America, and California. The fifteen California views, all taken in 1863 between October 9 and November 1, include
numerous San Francisco street scenes and buildings (including fire companies), a dairy farm near Fort Point, the Calaveras
giant sequoia grove, and one view of a placer mining operation at Murphy's.
