Abstract:
Benjamin Dore diary describes his voyage on the ship "Cantero" from Maine to San Francisco, with stops at St. Catherine Island
off the coast of Brazil, and at Valparaiso, Chile. Also includes accounts of the first steamboat voyage up Humboldt Bay, records
of incidents in Sacramento; Napa; Portland, Oregon; and Vancouver, Washington; embellished with sketches and decorations,
and a short word list of Chinook.
