The Black Scholar: Journal of Black Studies and Research (TBS) is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal providing articles
that help the understanding of issues of social concern to Black Americans and other peoples of African descent across the
world. It is published by the Black World Foundation, a non-profit educational organization, in association with Paradigm
Publishers in Boulder, Colorado. The journal, considered to be the leading journal of Black cultural and political thought
in the U.S., was founded by poet and essayist, Dr. Robert Chrisman in 1969; he co-edited it with Dr. Robert L. Allen, Professor
of African American Studies & Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
