An active San Francisco photographer, Baumgaertel participated extensively in Camera Club exhibitions across the United States
and internationally. He was a director in the Associated Camera Clubs of America and was Pacific Coast Executive of the Pictorial
Photographers of America. He was also a charter member of the Photographic Society of America. He died in 1958.
