Consists of a photocopy of a typed transcript of Andrew Hogin's journal, March 26-Oct. 18, 1849, describing his journey from
New York to Calif, as well as photocopies of typed transcripts of two letters written by Hogins from Coloma, Calif. to his
family in New York. The first (2 p.), dated June 22 1850, is written to his son and recounts a story of an old man toiling
and missing his son. The second (1 p.), dated July 18, 1851, is to his wife advising her when to sell the
