Abstract:
Snapshots and professional views of aviation in and above Alameda, Oakland, other San Francisco Bay Area locations and beyond.
Includes views of the development and early years of the Alameda Airport (later acquired by the U.S. Army and known as the
Alameda Naval Air Station) and several aircraft, including many images of Inland Sport, a plane used by the Oakland Flying
Service, Ltd. and perhaps flown by pilot Harold Lane who is depicted posing next to the plane in one photograph. Includes
many aerial views, one of which shows North Berkeley after the fire of 1923, another depicting the University of California,
Berkeley during an event at Memorial Stadium. Also includes a photograph of Amelia Earhart, and another depicting Charles
Lindbergh with California Governor James Rolph. Also includes a group of personal portraits and snapshots pertaining to Harold
Lane and the Lane family.
