Alice Levin was born in Germany in 1892. After the Nazis came to power, she fled to Shanghai where she met and married Frank Wetzlar. After the Second World War was over, Alice and Frank Wetzlar relocated to San Francisco. Similarly, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Frankenbusch (a.k.a. Fred Frank) emigrated from Austria at the onset of the Holocaust and eventually settled in San Francisco. In San Francisco, Alice and Frank Wetzlar and Mr. and Mrs. Frankenbusch met Alexander Schlocker, a San Francisco mail carrier. In time, Schlocker received copies of papers, documents, and photographs from the two couples.
