Abstract:
Consists of draft letters and notes from Albert Mundhenk's trip abroad to Germany and France to study art. He describes his
trip across the United States from California to Washington, D.C. and aboard the S.S. Munchen to Germany, including a stop
in Santa Fe, N.M. with a visit to artist Carlos Vierra and a visit to Mt. Vernon. Once in Europe, Mundhenk describes and compares
with the U.S., the art, transportation, political, social and economic conditions of Germany, and France among others, including
anti-Semitism, an African-American in Germany, Mussolini, and zeppelins. Also includes some of Mundhenk's old school work,
items related to his interests, some personal documents and a few family papers relating to his father, mother, wife, brother
Harold Otto Mundhenk, and sister Pearl Anita Mundhenk.

Albert Herbert Mundhenk, an artist and photographer was born Nov. 7, 1892, in California, to Albert Mundhenk and Anna Schneckenberger,
German immigrants and died on Jan. 7, 1980 in his San Francisco studio. Mundhenk spent time in Germany and France studying
art from 1928 to 1929 during the time between the two world wars.
