Papers relating to Cumming's term as governor of Utah Territory, 1857-1861, including commissions, letters received, letterpress
copies of letters sent, and scrapbooks of newspaper clippings and printed documents; letters by his wife Elizabeth Wells (Randall),
and two letters by his nephew, Alfred Cumming (1829- ), a Confederate army general. Added is a letter from George Funkhouser
to Andrew Funkhouser, Plattsburgh, Missouri, 1838, concerning the Mormon War in Missouri. Originals in Duke University Library.
