Contains decisions of the Signoria and the Council of the city of Città di Castello in Umbria from December 22, 1345 to March
20, 1350. Unpublished material, the legislative acts of the Commune of the city, cover wide-ranging subjects including taxation,
the church, the hiring of professionals such as a doctor or a teacher, the granting of citizenship, military affairs, economic
regulation, and sanitation and civic order (pigs not to be allowed to wander, children not to play war-games with rocks and
sticks). Entries for summer and autumn months of 1348 record provisions made in response to plague. Notes written in Italian
in a later hand are tipped in after fol. 29, 98, 133.

lacking or foliation incorrect as fol. 65 follows fol. 63; contemporary foliation in Roman numerals crossed out); 1¹⁸ 2¹⁶
(+1) 3-10¹⁶ 11⁴ 12⁶.
Layout: 30-35 long lines; vertical bounding lines made by folding.
Script: Written in a chancery script by one hand.
Binding: Quarter-vellum binding with 18th cent. paper covers; contiguous endsheets and pastedowns.
Origin: Written in Città di Castello in the region of Umbria between December 22, 1345 and March 20, 1350 as evidenced by
dated entries.
