Note:

The Manhattan Silver Mining Company, located in New York, formed a branch in Austin, Nevada in about 1863 to mine the newly located silver lodes in that area. This company was the first to use the Stedfeldt Furnace, which reduced roasting costs by half, and continued production into the 1880s.
