Letter from Father Manuel Gonsales, S. J. to Father Nicolas de Oro, S. J., San Miguel Arcangel de Oposura, Sonora, Mexico, April 13, 1733, describing activities, finances, and goods received by the mission.

Note:

Nicolas de Oro was born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1677. He entered the Society of Jesuits in 1695 and became a resident of Bacedeguachi, Sonora in 1720. De Oro became Rector Father of the Mission of Holy Martyrs of Sonora in 1732, and Resident Father at Mission Santa Maria Batuco, Sonora, in 1736. He died in Bacedeguachi in 1742.
Fr. Manuel Gonsales took over construction of the mission church in San Miguel Arcangel de Oposura after the death of Fr. Daniel Janusque in 1724. The church was completed by Fr. Buenaventura Gutierrez in February 1738.
