Note:
Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was born July 30, 1947 in Thal, Austria. He began weight training at age 15 and progressed in
this field to win the Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia titles. Schwarzenegger moved to the United States in 1968 and eventually
became a Hollywood actor, starring in a number of acclaimed action films. On April 26, 1986 he married Maria Shriver, niece
of President John F. Kennedy and daughter of Peace Corp director Sargent Shriver. Interested in politics since his move to
the United States, Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California on October 7, 2003 during the Gubernatorial recall election,
and was elected to his own term on November 7, 2006.
Sargent Shriver was born in Westminster, Maryland on November 9, 1915. He married Eunice Kennedy, sister of John F., Robert
F., and Edward M. Kennedy, on May 23, 1953. Shriver served as director of the Peace Corps during the presidencies of Kennedy
and Johnson, and as Ambassador to France from 1968 to 1970. He replaced Thomas Eagletown as the Democratic Vice-Presidential
candidate in 1972, unsuccesfully sought the Democratic Presidential nomination in 1976, and subsequently remained active in
the fields of law, education, and charity.
Maria Shriver was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 6, 1955, daughter of Sargent and Eunice Kennedy Shriver, and niece
of John F., Robert F., and Edward M. Kennedy. Shriver eventually entered the TV broadcasting field, co-anchored "CBS Morning
News," and later anchored "Dateline NBC." On April 26, 1986, she married bodybuilder and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and
upon his election as Governor of California on October 7, 2003 became the state's First Lady. In this capacity she served
in numerous organizations and projects, among them the California Museum for History, Women, and the Arts, the California
Hall of Fame, and the WE Connect program.
