Background
Edwin H. Clough was born in Sonora, Tuolumne County, California on February 11, 1854. He began work on the San Francisco Chronicle in 1870 and worked for various newspapers as a writer and reporter. In 1910, he went to San Diego. He wrote a column called "On the Margin" for the San Diego Evening Tribune under the pen name "Yorick." Clough died January 14, 1923.
