Peacock. Astoria, Oregon, September 8, 1848. (1 1. A.D.S. 32 cm.) Issued in register and clearance as Justice of the Peace for the Port of Astoria, certifying that the
Peacock was the salvaged and repaired launch of the U. S. Sloop of War
Peacock (of the Wilkes Exploring Expedition), lost at the mouth of the Columbia in 1841. Shively's authority certified by 1848, by
Governor George Abernethy; with Territorial seal.
