Scope and Content

These Papers, presented to Hubert Howe Bancroft by M. G. Vallejo document the 1846 capture and occupation of Sonoma, Vallejo's imprisonment, and events leading to his release. Included are a few manuscripts that do not pertain to the Bear Flag Revolt.

Vallejo, Mariano Guadalupe

 

Draft or copy of letter to Manuel Micheltorena, Nov. 18, 1844. Not in Vallejo's handwriting. Concerning news that citizens in the vicinity of Monterey are rumored to be desirous of ejecting a division of Micheltorena's soldiers, revolting against the crimes and violence which accompany the troops.
