with the Office of Traffic Safety.

This collection is open for research. The video masters not available for viewing. Copies are available for viewing in the
Media Center, McHenry Library, UCSC, under the call numbers VT 4596 (Getting There By Bike), VT 4597 (The Bicycle Zone), and
VT 4688 (Pedal Smarts).

This archive contains the following three videos in English and Spanish produced by Jeanne Le Page of the UCSC Transportation
and Parking Services with the Office of Traffic Safety:
"Bicycle Zone" (12 min.). An educational and humorous video on bicycle safety aimed at an elementary school audience. Using colorful graphics
and animation, it teaches the fundamental skills of bicycling.
"Pedal Smarts" (18 min.), uses teen actors in a news-style format to demonstrate safe cycling and motoring skills for middle school age
children.
"Getting There By Bike" (20 min.), interviews a firefighter, a Latina newscaster, a bicycling activist/instructor, and a senior citizen, to see how
they discovered the joys of bicycle commuting, and how to do it safely. The video also demonstrates for youths and adults
bicycle friendly motoring skills and emphasizes their importance.
