Abstract: Originals, transcripts, and contemporary copies of documents relating to the government of various islands of the British
West Indies: Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Christopher, Nevis, Jamaica, Trinidad, Grenada, and others. Included are proclamations,
many pertaining to slaves and free Negroes. The documents have been grouped according to islands, and chronologically within
each group.

Scope and Content
These documents, from the H. H. Bancroft Collection, consist of originals, transcripts and contemporary copies of documents,
mainly relating to the government of various islands of the British West Indies: Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Christopher, Nevis,
Jamaica, Trinidad, Grenada and others. Included are proclamations, many pertaining to slaves and free negroes. H. H. Bancroft
numbers in this collection are: 34931, 34932, 56403-56410, 56416, 56433. The documents have been grouped according to islands,
then chronologically within each group.
