The title of this item as listed in the finding aid is the report's title as written by its author, Harding. The location referenced is now known as Negro Hill Ditch. It is located near the former mining community of Negro Hill, now submerged by Folsom Lake in El Dorado County, California. At the time Harding wrote this report, the name "Negro Hill" and the racist language used by Harding were both in use.
