Historical Description

This is an artificial collection assembled by GTU Library staff during the years of the Vietnam War. It was assembled as a pamphlet collection. The material was intended as a research and information collection available to library patrons.

Scope and Content

The staff collected published material (pamphlets, flyers, position papers, sermons, newspaper and journal articles, brochures) from government departments (United States and North Vietnam); national denominations; local, national, and international organizations; and individuals. Each item bears a yellow sticker with accession and classification numbers. The classification numbers corresponded to the file folder in which the item was filed. Each file folder was headed with a Library of Congress subject heading. The files were all headed Vietnamese Conflict, 1961-, followed by a specific subject subheading (i.e., Bibliography, Campaigns, etc.).
The materials have been kept in their original file headings, except for one large file folder containing disparate material which, it appears, had not been fully sorted. New files with new subject headings were added as needed to continue the intention of the original library staff. There was no particular order of items within a subject file folder.

Separation Note

  • Removed from this collection: GTU Strike Bulletins, May 1970.

Accessioned as GTU 94-7-03 (ff 6, Small Collections Box 2, Location: 3/C/4). A collection of newsletters put out by a group of GTU students and faculty during a GTU-wide strike led by persons involved in the general anti-war movement, and precipitated by an escalation of U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

All file folders are headed Vietnamese Conflict, 1961-, then specific subheadings. Listed here are the subheadings in alphabetical order.
