Scope and Content
This collection most likely came from Aaron Ungersma, a professor at San Francisco Theological Seminary. Attempts to contact
Dr. Ungersma have yielded
nothing, so there is no documentation on this collection. It is thought that Dr. Ungersma
served on the committees represented in the collection. The papers come from the
formative years of the World Council of Churches. Papers are often headed, "World Council
of Churches (in Process of Formation)." Many are marked "confidential", or "not for
publication". The Ecumenical Council for Life and Work, ff 7-10, was chaired by John C.
Bennett and the papers contain cover memos from him.
