These documents, used and extensively quoted by Hubert Howe Bancroft in his Popular Tribunals, v. 2, contain letters dated 1853-1855, seized by the Vigilance Committee in 1856; letters to the Committee, Apr.-Oct. 1856; letters to Bancroft concerning his publication; a few notes; a scrapbook of clippings, May-Oct. 1856; and some loose clippings.
