This material is not listed in Arvidson's Hamlin Garland checklist.
Scope and Contents

has a note attached: "Attached is a copy of a letter written by Hamlin Garland and sent to the Osage public library. The original
letter is framed and hangs in the library for viewing." Also includes copies of Garland's letters to Elizabeth Lippincott
McQueen (here addressed as Mrs. Ulysses Grant McQueen) and an article by McQueen titled "Happy Contacts," published in a 1933
edition of
Speed. The only original in this folder is a letter sent from Garland to Captain William M. Kerr. Some of these letters are accompanied
by later correspondence (2001-2004) with USC librarian John Ahouse documenting historical contexts of Garland's letters and
the sources for some of these copies.

General
Hamlin Garland: Centennial Tributes and a Checklist of the Hamlin Garland Papers was created by Lloyd A. Arvidson, who was a part of the USC Libraries staff during the initial processing of Garland's papers.
Arvidson compiled this detailed checklist of the Garland collection after the completion of his master's thesis, "A Bibliography
of the Published Writings of Hamlin Garland." The USC Libraries then published the checklist as a paper-bound octavo booklet
for the 1962 issue of
The Library Bulletin (no. 9).

on Garland's papers, this material was physically arranged and labeled at the box-level as part of the subseries, "Bibliographies"
(under the "Personal Records" series). There is a brief note on this material listed in "Garland Collection Supplements."
