Records of the La Jolla Civic-University Orchestra & Chorus Association (later the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus Association),
consisting largely of correspondence of the organization's officers, Board records, subject files and publicity. Materials
include committee records, board meeting minutes, membership lists, printed programs, and a small number of photographs.
Background
The La Jolla Civic Orchestra was founded in November 1954 by Peter Nicoloff, a violinist with a distinguished career in Europe.
The La Jolla Civic Orchestra Association was incorporated in California on December 4, 1957. The Orchestra's mission was to
advance public knowledge and appreciation of music. Thirteen years later, in 1967, the Orchestra added a permanent chorus
and became the La Jolla Civic Orchestra and Chorus Association.
