    History

    The California Exposition area was dedicated on Monday, May 22, 1967. Governor Ronald Reagan delivered the dedicatory address at the 630-acre exposition site on the American River. Others participating in the dedication ceremony were: Dr. Emil Mrak, Chairman of the Board, California Exposition and Fair Corp.; Lt. Governor Robert Finch; General Services Director Andrew R. Lolli; and Senator Albert S. Rodda. The successor to the California State Fair opened in June 1968 as a "permanent year-round showcase of the Golden State".
