reports, annual reports, microfilm of Congressional reports.
Kenneth Rank was Chief Geologist for New Idria Mining Company. He collected history and
information about the mines in preparation for writing a book. The mine was said to have
been discovered in 1851, with state incorporation on January 27, 1858, and federal patent
applied for in 1868. California Corporation status was forfeited on December 14, 1905.
The mines and town were sold at auction in 1973.
