Scope and Content Summary

A bound volume of 276 mimeographed fashion drawings created by Edyth Sparag Studios between the late 1930s and early 1950s. Many of the drawings are hand-colored, and some pages contain original pencil sketches in the margins. The designs, which include dresses, suits, and evening gowns, provide visual documentation of New York fashion design during the mid-twentieth century. The drawings illustrate the types of fashion accessories and hair styles common to this period as well.
A number of pages in the bound volume were flagged with pink index cards containing notations by a previous owner. These index cards were removed as a preservation measure. A list of the pages flagged and the corresponding notations has been retained in the collection.
The collection also includes a folder containing three unrelated sketches of male models and a hand-colored plate from Godey's Lady's Book, which were laid into the bound volume when it was acquired.
