Biographical / Historical

Chris W. Runge (1906-1972)
Chris W. Runge was born in San Francisco. He attended San Francisco Polytechnic High School and studied through an atelier of the San Francisco Architecture Club between 1928 and 1934. He graduated from the Harvard School of Architecture in 1935.
He worked as a draftsman with Frederick Meyer (1928-1933, 1936-1937), H.A. Minton (1933-1934), A.R. Williams (1937-1940), A.W. Earl (1940-1942), and Meyer & Evers (1945-1954). During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion. In 1954 he became a partner in the firm of Meyer & Evers. He remained with the successor firms to Meyer & Evers including Ashley (George Fred), Keyser (Lawrence H.) & Runge; Johnson (Alfred W.) & Runge; Runge (Chris W.).

Scope and Contents

The Chris W. Runge collection consists primarily of architectural drawings, both student renderings and professional commercial and residential projects. The collection is organized into two series: Personal Papers, which consist of student works, and Project Records, which contain drawings by the firm Ashley, Keyser & Runge.
