Box 1

Letters written to Eggleston.

 

Arranged alphabetically by name of person or organization, with a miscellany of single letters at the beginning and a folder of unidentified letters at the end. A list of the more important correspondents follows the Key.

Box 2

Letters written by him, 1891-1936.

 

Arranged chronologically. Letters for the period 1891- 1913 are originals, written to his wife and family. Most of the letters thereafter are drafts or carbons, addressed to friends, relatives and associates in various reform movements. Undated and incomplete letters are at the end of the file.

Box 3

Eggleston-Stokes family correspondence.

 

Letters written to Eggleston by his wife, Blanche (Stokes) Eggleston; his sons, Arthur, Richard and William; his niece, Elizabeth; his brother, Joseph; his father and his mother-in-law; and miscellaneous correspondence of various members of the two families.
