Scope and Content Note
Letters grouped by subject matter, as follows:
Correspondence re the Caveat Book Shop Catalog of Rare Books and Manuscripts..., together with the Ms. of the Catalog, 1946-47. The Catalog, written by Farquhar as a satire, was published by the Grabhorn Press in 1946 and sent by him to various friends and libraries. The letters express the reaction of the recipients.
Correspondence relating to his research on William H. Brewer and to the editing and publication of Up and Down California in 1860-1864: The Journal of William H. Brewer (Yale University Press, 1931), and to its reprinting by the University of California Press in 1949. Includes letters from the descendents of William H. Brewer, Yale University Press and University of California Press.
Alaska-North Pole Air Force correspondence, relating to Farquhar's participation as an observer on a weather reconnaissance flight, 1948, and subsequent related correspondence with Air Force officials, 1949-50.
