    Corporate History

The Bay Area History of Medicine Club (BAHMC) is a constituent society in San Francisco of the American Association for the History of Medicine. The BAHMC has held meetings since 1972; bylaws were incorporated in 1983. The mission of the BAHMC is to convene meetings for the presentation of material on the history of medicine and to provide a forum for discussion, bring together those interested in the history of medicine for the exchange of ideas and social interchange, and to promote interest in the history of medicine. Regular meetings usually include a lecture or other presentation (customarily one regular meeting a month during the academic year, October -November and January -April), with an annual dinner meeting held in lieu of a regular meeting. Dinner meetings are customarily jointly sponsored with related organizations such as the Janus Society, the Roxburghe Club of San Francisco or others. While most members are medical professionals, membership is open to all who are interested in the history of medicine and approved by the Council of the BAHMC.
