Arranged alphabetically by correspondent, with incoming and outgoing interfiled.

Content/Description

Contains correspondence (and related material) chiefly pertaining to Elkus' career. Correspondents include music educators, musicologists and scholars in related fields, including colleagues at the University of California, music critics, performers, composers and individuals and organizations involved in promoting music and the arts. Also includes a limited number of letters to his wife, Elizabeth.
Principal correspondents include Arthur Bliss, Leo Eloesser and Frederick Jacobi. Other significant correspondents include: Monroe Deutsch, Edwin Grabhorn, Dame Myra Hess, Werner Janssen, Luther Marchant, Moshe Menuhin, Pierre Monteux, Douglas Moore, Max Pirani, Paul Pisk, Roger Sessions, Isaac Stern, Virgil Thompson, Mrs. Benjamin Ide (Amay W.)
