Description
Record Series 23 contains the administrative files of Harvery S. Perloff, of UCLA's Graduate School of Architecture and Urban
Planning.
Background
The School of Architecture and Urban Planning opened for instruction in 1966 in response to the rapid urbanization of Southern
California and the growing need in the region for architects and urban planners. The two-year master's program emphasized
design-oriented studio work based strongly on the social and technological sciences. George A. Dudley was appointed the first
dean of the school in 1964, almost two years prior to the arrival of the first students.
