Under the provisions of Sections 194 and 2167 of the Streets and Highways Code, a portion of the State Gasoline Tax is provided to local municipalities for the construction, or improvement of city streets and roadways.
Contains: memoranda and reports sent by District Engineer and District Engineer for City and Cooperative Projects describing the progress and projected cost of municipal projects in District VI; contracts; specifications; and proposed plans.

Scope and Content Note

Arranged chronologically.
Letters received and copies of letters sent, along with memoranda between the District Right of Way Agent, Headquarters, District Engineer, right-of-way agents, local citizens and officials pertaining to the acquisition of new highway land, instructions to follow in determining a fair market value, complaints from homeowners over appraisals, and infringements of highway right-of-way space by billboards, service stations, stores and public utility companies.
 

11. MAINTENANCE WORK ORDERS. 1914-1923.

Scope and Content Note

Arranged chronologically.
Consists of orders prepared by the District Engineer to the State Highway Engineer describing maintenance needs - slide removal, planting of trees, or emergency equipment needs. Work orders often give description as to how equipment performs in maintenance work.
