Scope and Content
Charles B. Turrill, Californian writer and businessman, was California Commissioner for the World's Cotton Exposition, New
Orleans, 1884-1885, and Director for California for the North, Central and South American Exposition also in New Orleans,
1885-1886. He was manager of the Preliminary World's Fair Exhibit of California, shown at the Mechanics Institute's 27th Industrial
Exposition, San Francisco, January 10-February 18, 1893, which was later shown at the World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago,
1893. His scrapbooks and papers reflect these activities.
