Background
George W. Milias was first elected in 1962 to represent the 22nd Assembly District, comprising the southern portion of Santa Clara County. He was reelected in 1964, 66, and 68 and retired at the end of the 1970 Session. An active Republican party worker, Milias was president of the California Republican Assembly in 1957-58 and in 1960 vice-chairman of the delegation to the Republican National Convention and a member of the Rules Committee. Legislative programs of interest to Milias include conservation of natural resources and streamlining of state government.Assemblyman George W. Milias has been representing the 22nd Assembly District for six years. He was elected for the first time in 1962 and re-elected in November 1968 to his fourth consecutive term. George was born and raised in Gilroy, graduated from San Jose State College with a BA in both History and Political Science and received his Master's degree in California Political History from Stanford University.
