Biographical/Historical Sketch
A. I. Levorsen, petroleum geologist, earned his E. M. degree at the University of Minnesota, School of Mines in 1917. He came
to Stanford University in 1945 as professor of geology; he served as the first dean of the School of Mineral Sciences from
1946-51, when he left Stanford to resume his consulting career.
Collection includes 3 addresses on petroleum geology, 1948-55; miscellaneous reprints 1936-66; his SRI report on oil reserves
of western Canada, 1951; notes for a lecture in 1965; catalog and dedication program for the A. I. Levorsen Geology Collection
in the Tulsa City–County Library System, 1968; and biographical materials, including a memorial by Wallace E. Pratt, 1966.
