Description
Records consist of certificate of authenticity, 1985, two photographs of the seedling tree, map showing campus location, and memo from Herb Fong, grounds and custodial manager, Stanford University, 1987.
Background
The space tree is a redwood tree planted on the Stanford University campus that was grown from a seed flown aboard the U.S. Space Shuttle Challenger, July 29 to August 6, 1985.
