Abstract: Collection contains manuscripts dating from his period at Stanford as well as papers from his student days at Cornell (1909-1918) and correspondence written during his service as Dean of Graduate Studies at Washington University (1943-1945). Also included are personal business papers and correspondence from 1945-1965. Accession 2021-111 consists of letters to and from Richard Foster Jones. The letters are mainly between him and his wife, Lucile Law Jones, with dates ranging from 1903-1940.

Biographical/Historical Sketch

Richard Foster Jones was a Professor of English at Stanford (1945-1952) and founder of the Stanford Creative Writing Center.

Description of the Collection

Collection contains manuscripts dating from his period at Stanford as well as papers from his student days at Cornell (1909-1918) and correspondence written during his service as Dean of Graduate Studies at Washington University (1943-1945). Also included are personal business papers and correspondence from 1945-1965. Accession 2021-111 consists of letters to and from Richard Foster Jones. The letters are mainly between him and his wife, Lucile Law Jones, with dates ranging from 1903-1940.
