Scope and Content
Collection consists of sixteen original documents from England, France, Italy, Spain and Austria, most of them written in
Latin or French, with one in German. Latin documents include: grant of privileges to the monastery of Peleias by Alphonso
IX, King of León and Galicia and his queen, Berenguela (Salamanca, 1198), a deed of sale for a plot of land in Pisa (1313),
a bequest of land in the region of Calcinara (Pisa, 1350), an acceptance of a mother's dotal deed and related obligations
(Florence, 1358), grant of permission from Francesco I da Carrara, Lord of Padua, to his wife Domina Fina to give a house
in exchange for land and a release from the legacy of her uncle (Padua, 1378), an acknowledgement of a receipt for payment
of a dowry (Poggibonsi, 1411), a deed giving land, a mill, and water rights (Piacenza, 1481), two resignations of estates
in favor of others (England, 1585), and a bull of Pope Julius III addressed to Dominicus de Servinis, cleric of the diocese
of Cortona, concerning a benefice in the monastery of St. Peter at Lodi (Milan) (St. Peter, Rome, 1550). French documents
include: an acknowledgement of receipt for payment from the Countess of Blois (France, 1346), three agreements made before
the king's counselor at the Châtelet (Paris, 1405, 1478, & 1558). The German document is a patent letter by brothers Albert
III and Leopold III, Dukes of Austria in favor of another (Neuenstadt, Austria, 1368).
