Biography
Maxwell Hunley Rare Books was an antiquarian bookselling firm located on Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California.
Hunley specialized in Americana and modern first editions. He maintained jovial relationships with his customers and friends,
as evidenced in both his business and personal correspondence. In 2002 the Zamorano Club published an interview with Hunley,
in limited edition, entitled
A true and authentic account of the life of the distinguished bibliophile and bookseller Maxwell Hunley, Esq.: as heard from
his own lips.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of papers from the firm Maxwell Hunley Rare Books, primarily covering the years 1963-1967. It includes
correspondence, both business and personal; records of customers' collecting interests; invoices of sales and of Hunley's
purchases from other dealers; and other business records.
Organization and Arrangement
