Description
Notes and outlines for a history of the Stanford campus area originally prepared for a class assignment. Focusing on the pre-Palo Alto Stock Farm period, Ballard's subjects include early inhabitants, Spanish ownership, land grants and title deeds, and early residents such as Peter Coutts, George Gordon, Jose Pena, and Sandy Wilson. Also included is part of the final draft manuscript, "The Rise of Private Property in California."
