Biography

Howard Vigne Sutherland was born in Cape Town, South Africa on August 3, 1868, the son of Thomas and Sophy (Fairbridge) Sutherland. He was a playwright, journalist, and poet who authored Jacinta, a California idyll and other verses (1900); Bigg's bar, and other Klondyke ballads (1901); Songs of a city (1904); Idylls of Greece, 3 series (1908-1914); and Out of the North (1913), among other works.

Scope and Content

The collection contains nine manuscripts of Sutherland's works which appear to have been written while Sutherland lived in Denver, Colorado. Also included is one folder of clippings about Sutherland and his works.
