Historical or Biographical Note
Historical Note: The late 19th and early 20th centuries in the San Francisco Bay area were rich with economic development
and cargo transportation. Many companies were involved in the maintenance of the transportation systems including the manufacturing
and delivery of supplies for upkeep on steamers and other vessels in use.
Transportation companies receipts, 1889-1916, (SAFR 22229, HDC 1622), consists of records of expenses relating to transportation
services in the Bay Area.
Document types include receipts of services and materials offered or provided and their associated monetary transactions.
Companies include: the California Transportation Company, Marysville Steamboat Company, Sacramento Transportation Company,
