Table of contents What's This?
Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) sponsored various television programs during the 1950s and early 1960s. This collection includes scripts from some of those programs, which included Alcoa Premiere, One Step Beyond, and Fred Astaire Presents.
The Aluminum Corporation of America sponsored various television programs during the 1950's and early 1960's. The sponsor started with The Alcoa Hour, a 60 minute live anthology drama in the fall of 1955. The 1956/57 television season brought a trend to replace live broadcasts with pre-recorded film. The Alcoa Hour went off the air in September 1957 and became a thirty minute filmed program. Other Alcoa shows followed in the late 1950s and early 1960s: Alcoa Premiere, Alcoa Presents, and Alcoa Theatre.
