Series Scope and Content Summary

The Office of University Relations was responsible for publicizing events and stories pertaining to campus life. The materials in this series document such newsworthy issues as discrimination charges filed against the university in 1967, the 1968 American Federation of Teachers Strike, and the 1970 campus Survival Faire, as well as President Robert D. Clark's (1964-1969) response to student unrest and campus controversies that occurred in the late 1960s. In addition, this series includes new hire press releases, information about department programs, and the university's Centennial Celebration, as well as how other media agencies viewed San José State campus activities during this particular time period.
